I joined the nights&weekends s5 season by buildspace that started on June 15th. I was planning to use this opportunity to focus on a recent product I started, but that's more of what I am already doing. So, I decided to leave my comfort zone and improve my writing skills.

For the next six weeks, I will focus on writing two blog posts per week. I will write for SaaS tech founders about being an entrepreneur, including challenges, solutions, hacks, tips, etc., but also about entrepreneurship, software engineering, and web development.

I have been thinking of writing more for a while but never put that as my main goal. I barely have time during the week but always tell myself that’s not an excuse. If it is a priority, we can find time. I am making writing a priority in this s5 batch. Maybe I can make it a sustainable habit in my life.

I want to highlight three people that motivated me to enter this journey:

  • Greg Gilbert is a serial entrepreneur and writer who I really admire and who inspires me. Every week, he shares one thought with the world. A well thought out, simple to read that usually sticks in my mind.
  • Dmytro Krasun, founder of ScreenshoteOne, is another entrepreneur from whom I want to be inspired. It's not too much about his blog but more about how he shares on Twitter. Honest, deep thoughts about the challenges and solutions. As Phil shared, he is a philosopher. I don’t want to be one, but I like to think and reflect on topics. Let's do it in public instead of keeping them only in my mind.
  • Igor Krasnik, founder of Momentum, is another entrepreneur I have followed on Twitter for a while. I want to be inspired by his sharing, not so much by his written posts as by his creativity. He goes beyond the traditional Twitter posts and formats and is creative in sharing his thoughts. He uses illustrations, videos, and podcasts—many different formats and creativity I want to be inspired by.

And I think that’s it for my first blog post!
This is about the why and what I want to do.
Now I need to start thinking about the how!

I've been working on finding inspiration, exposing myself to new experiences, gathering fresh ideas, and expanding my knowledge. To help with this, I've committed to reading more. Since the beginning of the year, I've made it a habit to spend 30 minutes each day with a physical book (kindle). While I'd gotten used to listening to audiobooks, I've found that actually reading requires my full concentration, leading to better absorption of the content.

But recently, I stopped… I don’t know why, but I did. Last month, I barely read. I think it’s because reading books is long. I only read non-fiction, so keeping engaged for a long time is harder. So now, I will focus on reading more and longer blog posts. I don’t do this… but I feel it’s a great way to see how others are doing and learn from them.

So that’s it for now! I'm going to read a saved 20-minute blog post about writing online.
Maybe it will be a topic for another day.

I hope you enjoy it. Subscribe here to get new posts weekly.
